Climate Talk Live – Local Voices from the People’s Climate March
Participate in our People’s Climate March satellite event, free and open to the inquisitive, creative public. Participants are encouraged to share their ideas about climate change and environmental issues, bring samples of music, artwork, or other creative ways to address the issues leading up to Sunday’s Peoples Climate march. GreenSpaceNYC will provide an open mic to those who would like to make public testimony about climate change. Free coffee, bagels, and discussion.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the General Assembly Declaration on the Right of Peoples to Peace, the theme of this year’s International Day of Peace is the “Right of Peoples to Peace.” The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.

General Assembly Special Session on ICPD Beyond 2014

Monday, 22 September 2014, world leaders unite for the United Nations General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) to discuss the progress and achievements of the goals set out in the landmark International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).  In 1994, 179 governments in Cairo, reached a remarkable consensus, that investing in the dignity, equality, and human rights of every individual ultimately leads to sustainable development, reflected in the forward-looking, 20-year Programme of Action.

The Special Session, which begins at 1pm, will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York during the 69th United Nations General Assembly. The session is restricted, however, the public can view the Special Session streaming live online via UN WebTV.
